Author visit & Book Reading - dashwood Academy

During July, I was tickled pink to share the world of Alice Green with Primary School students at Dashwood. Across two visits, I had the pleasure of meeting the loveliest, happiest, and brightest students in three classes which included KS2 Maple and Redwood and KS3 students in Silverbirch.

With the Silverbirch class, we enjoyed a question and answer session based on the inspiration behind the book series and future stories.

With the students in Maple and Redwood, we shared a reading of Alice the Palace Postwoman followed by an inquisitive question and answer round. We also had great fun character profiling each other using the descriptors of the animals featured in the story who live within the parkland grounds. There were plenty of goodies to take home including stickers and bookmarks (as well as plenty of smiles).

In addition, a Dashwood colouring competition was launched with the reveal of some very creative efforts. Pictured here with one of our colouring champions is Sophie (left) and our winner Teresa (right) who won a copy of Alice the Palace Postwoman to take home. Teresa made full use of the whole page, selecting a great array of vibrant colours and putting her own spin on the image to pull the viewer in. A huge thank you to all those who entered, the teachers and Principal Mrs Gordan-Weeks. I look forward to revisiting for future book events.
